My Fitness Activities
Running
-Yogi BerraWhen you come to a fork in the road, take it-
Although I didn't run in high school or college, I have found that I benefit from the
calm and fitness that running brings to me. I also love the challenge of competing
against myself and the clock. As far as a runner's high, after a long run, my attitude
is definitely "That's fine, we're cool."
I have run seven marathons:
- Lakefront Marathon (Milwaukee, WI)
- Rock 'n' Roll Arizona (Phoenix, AZ)
- Tallahassee Marathon (Tallahassee, FL)
- Chicago Marathon (Chicago, IL) (3X)
- Grandma's Marathon (Duluth, MN)
I plan on running in the Chicago Marathon again in October 2024.
Triathlon
I loved competing in triathlons, but I decided to concentrate more on running
in the recent years. While I still swim laps for cardio and go on biking tours,
I enjoy these activities more in a non-competitive setting.
I have competed in four Ironman triathlons:
Pilates
Pilates has been key to maintaining my running. It is an hour of intense
core work. I have increased my strength and flexibilty through Pilates
more than I could have doing core work on my own.
